    Data Record for Media 10.1

    Interesting Places in Yogyakarta:

    1. Borobudur Temple
    Borobudur Temple is a Buddhist temple from the ninth century, located in Magelang, Central Java which is only 1 hour from Yogyakarta. It is one of UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's decorated with 2,672 reliefs and 504 Buddha statues. It is completeed on year AD 800 by Syailendra Dynasty under Sriwijayan Empire (one of the biggest Buddhist empire). It has three main part, Kamadhatu is the first part (the lowest one). Its reliefs describe people's life in the world which is controlled by human desire. The second one is Rupadhatu. Its relief describe the world when it's free from lust. The last one is Arupadhatu and it's about nirvana or a perfect world.


    2. Prambanan Temple
    Prambanan temple or Lara Jonggrang is a Hindu temple and was built on the 10th century. Prambanan temple is one of the biggest Hindu temple in South East Asia. It has 3 main temples each one is dedicated to 3 main God in Hinduism which are Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. There is also a ballet called Ramayana Ballet performed in Prambanan Temple complex regularly. It is about Ramayana and his faithful wife, Shinta.


    3. Kraton Yogyakarta
    Kraton Yogyakarta is a palace where the Sultan of Yogyakarta which is Sultan Hamengkubuwono and his family used to live and work until now. It was built on the 18th century. Some part of Kraton now has been a museum for public. The museum has collections of batik, Javanese instruments and other things that related to Javanese culture and the Yogyakarta Kingdom. Another part of Kraton also is used for gamelan or Javanese dance performances.


    4.Affandi Museum
    In Affandi Museum, we can see all the paintings and other creations that Affandi, which is the most-popular painter in Indonesia, made by himself from his early career to his late time. People can also see other paintings that made by other well-known painters both international or Indonesian painters. Affandi Museum is actually Affandi's house which has very unique construction because the roof looks like banana leaf. Visitors can see his properties annd his statue as well.

    Media 10.1 - Holiday Destination

    The brochure that I'm going to make for Media project is about Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is a city in Java, Indonesia. I chose Yogyakarta because it is one of my favorite holiday destination in Indonesia. Yogyakarta is a beautiful city with strong culture. Unfortunately, there are only few people who know about Yogyakarta. So, I hope that by making this brochure, I can introduce Yogyakarta to other people.
